Icons: Old Believers and Their World is a unique collaboration between the Icon Museum and Study Center and the Oleg Kushnirskiy Russian Icon Collection, featuring over sixty rare Old Believer icons, some of which have never been on display before. This exhibition highlights the artistic ingenuity and devotional power of icon painting from the nineteenth century Golden Age of Old Believer painting in Imperial Russia. The icons in this exhibition reveal a remarkable story of artistic beauty and devotional resilience cultivated by centuries of persecution and violence.
