The largest grouping in the ranks of saints is of those brave souls who willingly suffered and died for their faith. These monarchs and peasants, warriors and monks alike were subjected to arrest, brutal punishments, and death for preaching the Gospel and refusing to renounce their faith.
In this special tour, led by Museum Registrar Laura Garrity-Arquitt, visitors will encounter the steadfast and resilient figures such as Saints George and Paraskeva, examine the symbols found in their icons, and learn how stories of exemplary lives serve Christian morality tales.
Rarely seen icons from the Museum collection will be brought out especially for this tour, so don’t miss your chance to explore this fascinating facet of our collection.
