Join Curator Elliot Mackin for his Candlemas Tour, the third of our seasonal icon tours. This feast, beloved in both Western and Eastern Christianity, celebrates the presentation of the Baby Jesus in the Jerusalem Temple by Mary and Joseph.
Celebrated 40 days after Christ’s birth, this feast marks the end of the Christmas season. This special tour will feature icons that depict Christ’s Presentation in the Temple, and invites us to consider the lengthening of days at the end of winter, as well as the coming of Lent and Easter.
