SUMMARY:Harvest Harp Concert with Áine Minogue
DESCRIPTION:Members $20\, Not-yet-members $30 \n\n\n\nBuy Ticket\n\n\n\nJoin Irish harpist and singer Áine Minogue to celebrate Harvest\, Halloween & Celtic New Year. This program will explore the Celtic roots of Halloween\, as it is derived from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. According to Minogue\, “Samhain\, or Halloween as it has come to be known\, was actually New Year’s Eve on the old Irish and Celtic calendar and was arguably the most important day of their year! The children’s tradition of otherworldly creatures coming to life on Halloween has its origins in the ancient feast of Samhain.” Come celebrate Harvest and Halloween in music\, song\, and story. \nBorn and raised in Borrisokane\, County Tipperary\, Ireland\, Áine Minogue is a harpist\, singer\, and composer. Her music\, in various styles including Celtic\, World\, Folk\, Spiritual\, and Ambient\, has contributed to numerous soundtracks and compilations\, with recordings for PBS\, RCA Victor\, Virgin\, Universal\, Warner Bros.\, and television. Many of her track appearances have topped Billboard Magazine’s World\, New Age\, and Classical Charts for months at a time. Minogue has been nominated for several awards for record production. She has sixteen solo albums and a video collection. Recognized for her consummate skill and talent as a harpist\, who earned a Master’s Degree in Traditional Irish Harp Performance from the University of Limerick in Ireland\, Áine also possesses a voice that Billboard Magazine has described as one that “wraps around lyrics like a gently windblown satin sheet.” \nYour ticket purchase directly contributes to our mission to inspire learning and understanding through innovative exhibitions\, programs\, and scholarship. \nIf you buy a ticket and do not receive a confirmation email within 24 hours\, please email info@iconmuseum.org and/or check your spam folder. \nPlease note that programs are non-refundable.
