SUMMARY:Free Family Thursdays
DESCRIPTION:The Museum is offering free admission every Thursday in July. We will have drop-in activities and tours geared towards creative and inquisitive visitors of all ages. Visitors are also invited to join in on guided tours throughout the day offered by Museum staff and volunteers. \n  \nPaints of the Earth \nExplore the materials used to create the vibrant colors found in our icons! Museum staff will guide visitors as they experiment with creating paints using prepared pigments and embellishing their artworks with silver and gold colored foil. Learn about where these materials are found and what the different colors signify in the icon tradition. \n  \nIlluminated Letters \nLearn about the beautiful lettering found in illuminated manuscripts and some icons. Using templates and examples on hand\, explore basic lettering styles and create illuminated letters. Participants will be encouraged to be creative and make an illuminated letter that represents their unique personality.
