SUMMARY:Founder's Day
DESCRIPTION:FREE admission all day. \nOn Friday\, May 29\, the Icon Museum and Study Center will host Founder’s Day\, celebrating the institution’s twentieth anniversary with a full day of free admission and community programming. \nThis special occasion will give visitors an opportunity to explore the Icon Museum’s origins as we honor our founder\, Gordon Lankton\, and his wife\, Janet Lankton\, for their pivotal contributions to Clinton and the surrounding communities. \nReflecting the Lanktons’ spirit of generosity\, the Museum will offer free admission all day\, with extended hours until 5:30 p.m. Visitors will also have the opportunity to view a one-day-only pop-up exhibition on loan from the Clinton Historical Society\, highlighting Gordon’s contributions to the town and surrounding region. \nThe official evening program will begin at 5:30 p.m. The Museum’s auditorium will be formally named in Janet’s honor during a special ceremony at 5:30 p.m. with State Representative Meghan Kilcoyne. Janet loved music and was affectionately nicknamed “The Singing Lady” for her beautiful harmonizing\, frequent singing\, and piano playing. The dedication will be followed by a performance given by acclaimed pianist Ekaterina Willewald\, a returning Museum favorite. The events will conclude at the nearby Clinton Historical Society\, located at 210 Church Street\, where visitors can enjoy refreshments around the fireplace and view special displays of Gordon and Janet Lankton’s legacies. \n10:00 am – 5:30 pm: Extended hours at the Museum5:30 pm: Dedication and Celebration in Auditorium5:45 pm: Piano Concert by Ekaterina Willewald6:30 pm – 8:00 pm: Reception at the Clinton Historical Society \n  \n \nThis program is offered by the Icon Museum and Study Center and Clinton Historical Society as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature\, Culture & History\, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places\, objects\, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area.
